Exciting days at the DPG Spring Meeting

QZabre is at the DPG Spring Meeting in Dresden, where Nele, Clemens and Nishant are manning the booth in Tent A, fielding questions about NV magnetometry and demonstrating the Quantum Edukit. Alongside the exhibition, Nele presented results on multi-method magnetometry (NV, MFM and MOKE), Nishant spoke in the Physics Education session, and Clemens gave a presentation at the NaMLab — prompting fruitful discussions with Scientific Director Prof. Thomas Mikolajick and Senior Scientist Dr. Jens Trommer.

Heading to the DPG Spring Meeting

QZabre is heading to the DPG Spring Meeting in Dresden, where Clemens, Nele and Nishant will be at booth A15 to discuss NV magnetometry and demonstrate the Quantum Edukit. In the scientific programme, Nishant will speak on the Edukit in the Physics Education session, Nele will present multi-method magnetometry results combining NV, MFM and MOKE, and Mirko Bacani from partner attocube systems will share results from the jointly developed attoNVM cryogenic scanning NV magnetometer.

SPIE Photonics West - A great opportunity to connect and reconnect

QZabre's 2026 conference schedule kicked off at the Quantum West Expo in San Francisco, held as part of SPIE Photonics West, where Gabriel met visitors from diverse backgrounds and the Quantum Edukit proved a popular draw. The event also provided valuable opportunities for in-depth discussions with customers and fellow Swiss and European companies, as well as a welcome reunion with former interns Charles and Filippo, a reminder that conferences are ultimately about the people.

How QZabre got its name

On the eighth anniversary of QZabre's registration, the company shares the story behind its name: "Zabre" is pronounced like "sabre," a deliberate reference to the shape of the cantilever used in NV magnetometry, chosen by founder Jan Rhensius in 2017 before the company was officially spun off from ETH Zürich on 30 January 2018. Designer Baozhen L. then created the distinctive QZabre logo, whose Q tail doubles as both the sabre (or cantilever) and an elongated diamond, a nod to the NV centres at the heart of the technology.

From classroom to quantum lab

QZabre hosted eleven high-school students from Kantonsschule Zürich Nord for their Outreach Day, offering them an immersive introduction to NV magnetometry through talks by Gabriel and Nishant, an interactive diamond photoluminescence demonstration by Nele, a hands-on Quantum Edukit session, and live on-site measurements by Simon and Oliver. The students were enthusiastic and full of questions, and the QZabre team equally enjoyed sharing their work and discussing their career paths, hopefully sparking some curiosity about quantum science along the way.

Meet QZabre at Photonics West

The Quantum West Expo has opened at the Moscone Center in San Francisco as part of the SPIE Photonics West conference, and Gabriel Puebla-Hellmann is ready at the QZabre booth (#606) to discuss how NV microscopy can contribute to your research, with a Quantum Edukit on hand for visitors to explore quantum sensing hands-on.

Introducing the QZabre Quantum Edukit

QZabre announces that the Quantum Edukit is now available as a regular product for universities and educational institutions, a compact, hands-on teaching tool based on NV centres in diamond that lets learners perform real quantum experiments, from ODMR and Rabi oscillations to Ramsey interferometry and spin-echo sequences. Two modules are available (Quantum Sensing and Qubit Manipulation), the first unit is already in use at EPFL's Physics Discovery Learning Labs, and demonstration units are available for rental by contacting info@qzabre.com.

Looking back on an eventful year

As 2025 draws to a close, QZabre reflects on a year of growth: new team members joined, the attoNVM, the first commercial low-temperature scanning NV magnetometer, co-developed with attocube systems — was launched, and the Quantum Edukit made its debut as an intuitive platform for learning quantum science. The team also attended more than 20 conferences, supported customers worldwide, maintained close ties to ETH Zürich through student projects and courses, and looks forward to an exciting 2026.

Sharing our passion for NV quantum sensing

Gabriel spent two stimulating days at the Quantum Sensing Centre (QSC) in Singapore, giving a workshop on NV magnetometry for researchers and students from the National University of Singapore, covering single-NV and ensemble-NV sensing, scientific and industrial applications, and hands-on demonstrations with the Quantum Edukit, which performed flawlessly throughout.

QZabre at ISTFA 2025

QZabre is returning to the 51st International Symposium for Testing and Failure Analysis (ISTFA) in Pasadena, California, where Gabriel will be at booth #505 to discuss how NV-based quantum sensing can contribute to research, diagnostics and quality control in the microelectronics failure analysis community, with a hands-on NV demonstration kit available for visitors.
