Sample temperature control options
Sample temperature controller
223K ↔ 363K
The Sample temperature controller allows to continuously control the sample temperature from 223 K (-50 °C) to 363 K (90 °C). This option includes a cooler, dryer and a compressor to prepare and direct the required cold-dry air flow to the sample, without interfering with the AFM scanner performance and the magnetic biasing. It is exclusively designed for Enclosure Flex Edition and requires the inert atmosphere option.
Sample heater
293K ↔ 383K
The sample heater is mounted on the QSM scanner and allows samples to be heated up to 383 K (110 °C). It is compatible with the vector electromagnet option, allowing to perform studies of samples at different temperatures and magnetic bias field. A QS3 integrated temperature controller enables the microscope user to set and monitor the temperature in real time.
Example measurement
GdFeCo thin films: By heating, the strength of magnetization in antiferromagnetically coupled GdFeCo sublattices changes, resulting in switching the direction of the total magnetization. Measured on the QSM by Laura van Schie, ETH Zürich.
